The secret of Kerrine’s excellence in 3 questions
We asked Kerrine to tell us what she thinks makes her a great employee. Her answer reveals that above all, she offers humility and kindness – even though it’s obvious she brings a lot more to the table.
1. What do you think makes you such an excellent employee?
Kerrine: “Honestly, I don’t think that I excel more than any of my colleagues. I like to think that I treat others the way I want them to treat me. If I want others to respect me, I have to respect my colleagues who work alongside me. I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful mentors and colleagues in my career. I have gained much knowledge and many valuable skills from them and I hope to pass them on.”
2. What drew you to finance as a career? Were you always interested in math?
Kerrine: Math was always one of my strongest subjects in school. As boring as it may sound, I like the sense of satisfaction whenever I solve complicated mathematics problems. This is also why I decided to take on Accounting & Finance for my degree. But it was definitely not what I expected. During my first year of university life, I decided that accounting wasn’t really something I wanted to pursue for my career. So, I started my working career as an auditor. After four exciting years in auditing, I decided that I enjoyed being a business partner to provide analysis and financial knowledge in business decision-making matters. And that’s how I started my career in FP&A.
3. How do our values help you in your daily work?
Kerrine: The company values help me by motivating me to be a better team player. Working together as a team builds morale and this allows me to feel a strong sense of belonging and deep commitment to my team and to the company: Together we do great things! I have learned that while it is important to work hard, enjoyment is equally important to strike a good work-life balance.
