Jen Foltz joined the Cloud Communications division of NTT in February 2020, just before the pandemic was declared. But working remotely wasn’t a sudden change for her because she was hired as a full-time and remote Business Development Manager.
Once her onboarding was complete, including meeting with several colleagues, Jen started working remotely from home. As Business Development Manager, she meets with clients, NTT partners and affiliates to help drive digital transformation through cloud telephony and unified communications. It’s Jen’s role to consult with organizations on the best way to migrate from their legacy voice solutions to a modernized, more remote-friendly cloud solution.
We met with Jen to find out more about her and her first year with us at NTT.
Q. You began working for NTT 18 months ago. What’s been the most surprising thing about working here?
I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the scale and impact that NTT has, across the globe. Between our large portfolio of intelligent technology solutions, our strategic partnerships – with the likes of Microsoft and Cisco – and our dynamic presence across so many countries, we really are shaping a connected future.
Q. What made you want to become a BDM and pursue a career in Sales?
My first job out of college was selling in the technology industry and right off the bat, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. I enjoy making connections with people while constantly learning and being challenged. I knew business development in technology was a great career path for me. I’m very much looking forward to meeting with clients more frequently in person again.
Q. In your video, you talk about the global pandemic and how it created a big shift in your work. How has the company supported you and helped you succeed in your role during this crisis?
The Cloud Communications division of NTT was so well prepared for this shift to remote work. My boss is also an incredible leader who listens and understands where I need additional support, so he was a key factor in my success during my first year.
Q. What’s your goal for the years ahead?
My goal is to master our portfolio of services in the hope of holding a leadership role myself, where I can help develop new BDMs and make them successful.
