Five months ago, Jacqueline Chan decided to join the Cloud Communications division of NTT Ltd. as Product & Partner Marketing Manager for APAC. Having worked in a similar position for another company before, she is more than ready to own the Go-To-Market strategies for the Microsoft and Digital Events solution stacks and ensure the continued engagement with key technology partners. In addition to that, Jacqueline is also responsible for sales enablement, aligning with technology partner strategy, understanding the competitive landscape, and driving product campaigns for the region.
We wanted to hear from Jacqueline how she is finding working for the company and how her career choices led her to where she is today.
Q. What does your typical working day look like?
Each day at work always end up being a bit different, but that’s exactly why I enjoy my job so much! I am usually working on the next product or offer we are launching in APAC, preparing or running sales training sessions, tailoring customer facing content to my region, and contributing to campaigns or demand generation activities. Throughout my day, I’m engaging and collaborating with a wide group of stakeholders – sales teams, campaign and marketing automation leads, product managers, other global marketing leads, and our fantastic partners at Microsoft and within NTT Ltd.
Q. In your video, you talk about the collaborative culture of the company. Tell us about the atmosphere at the Cloud Communications division of NTT Ltd.?
Despite the current unprecedented times, the company has certainly maintained an inclusive and collaborative atmosphere. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive since day one. I feel connected to my team and able to collaborate well with others despite being across different locations and time zones.
Q. You began here only five months ago. Tell us about your first day in the business
I started my role at a very unusual time, during the rise of the global pandemic. My first day was in a very quiet and empty office. Nonetheless, it was a great to be welcomed with an incredibly organized and well-structured induction program. I enjoyed the personalized topics, as well as the opportunity to meet leaders from other areas of the business, helping me start this new chapter of my career on a strong footing.
Q. According to your LinkedIn profile, you did a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Commerce. It makes us wonder… what job did you want to do when you were younger?
When I was younger, I was unsure about the type of job I wanted to do. However, it was obvious that I enjoyed fields involving a balance across analytical thinking and commercial acumen, as well as creativity and communication skills. As a product marketer today, I am still leveraging this broad skillset to perform my role.
Q. Do you have a passion?
I am passionate about the art of storytelling. To me, there is nothing more exciting than sharing and learning from a beautifully crafted narrative. Outside of work, this takes place in the form of my enthusiasm for watching and performing in musical theatre. In my day to day job, it manifests in the way I focus on constructing compelling messaging and propositions.
Q. What advice would you give for someone who wants to follow a career like yours?
I think it’s incredibly important to embrace every single learning opportunity that comes your way – even tasks that may seem less relevant when you are first starting your career. There is so much value in broadening your transferable skillset and understanding other areas of the business to improve the role you play within an organization.
