In 2018, Natasha Jones joined the Cloud Communications division of NTT as an intern on a six-month contract. Fast forward three years and she is now one of our Global Digital & Graphic Designers.
She works on projects across all of our service lines, designing collateral for the global marketing team. Natasha creates infographics, ebooks, solution sheets, videos, webpage designs and much more. Additionally, she also keeps our brand assets up to date, according to the latest NTT brand guidelines. In this way, she ensures we always have professional, well-designed assets that show off the solutions we provide and the great work we do.
Natasha kindly found some time to answer a few questions about her evolution from incoming intern to influential designer.
Q. What excites you the most about your work?
Being able to think outside the box and suggest new ideas or new ways of doing things. No idea is ever a bad idea and the team is always on board to try something new to achieve more engagement with our assets.
Q. You explain in your video that you started at the Cloud Communications division of NTT as an intern. What encouraged you to join us?
The opportunity to learn and develop my skills was quite clear during my interview for the position. This is what drew me in. My first six months were very much a learning experience. I was able to shadow my manager at the time and learn a lot from her about how a B2B company worked and how my role as a designer benefited the company.
Q. You’ve progressed from intern to Global Digital & Graphic Designer in three years: any thoughts on how your role may evolve from here?
It’s hard to predict the future, but as the Cloud Communications division evolves and works more closely with the rest of NTT, I hope to evolve with it, continue to work on new and exciting projects, and maybe even lead a team of designers working on projects that encourage current and future clients to take the next step with us.
Q. How do you find working at NTT? What’s the atmosphere like?
It’s a very friendly and encouraging environment. There are many colleagues who I’ve never met in person because they work all around the world, and also some who have joined in London who I have yet to meet in person because of the lockdown rules. However, whether I’m working with colleagues across the UK or in our Americas or APAC region, it doesn’t prevent us from forming close-working relationships and collaborating efficiently. I’m certainly looking forward to experiencing the office atmosphere again after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and going for after-work drinks with colleagues who I’ve not seen in a long time.
Q. Tell us more about your motivation: what makes you get out of bed in the morning?
I think it just comes down to knowing that I have a part to play in my team and that I am lucky enough to have a role that I enjoy: making things look better!
