Let’s have a round of applause for our May 2019 Values Employee of the Month, John Novak – Events, Schaumburg (AMERICAS)! Here’s what Arkadians say about him: ”[He] has been the Events Team “early bird” for the past 8+ years…”; “He consistently volunteers to handle audio or video calls during the early hours of the morning, sometimes coming in at 1:00 am and then working his full day shift.” (1:00 am? Yikes!) He helps out his peers daily, sharing his knowledge from years of experience on the team… He is invaluable to the team!!” Bravo to John, a man who truly loves the dawn’s early light!
Q.1: How did you feel when you learned that you had won?
John: For me, it was an honor winning this award. I didn’t feel “Oh, all my hard work finally paid off!” Just that it felt nice to be viewed by my peers as worthy of it.
Q.2: Can you tell us the reasons or describe the project for which you’ve been selected for this award?
Well, I’m the first one on the events team to arrive and get things up and running for the day. Once my co-worker Paulette gets in the office, we then finish the rest of the morning tasks together. Also, I often volunteer for very early morning calls and launch video calls which can sometimes start as early as 1 AM, and then I continue to work my entire shift for business needs.
Q.3: How do our values help you in your daily work?
Working Together would be the first value. There can often be changes at the last minute, be it a new call or a change to a call or perhaps someone calls in and we all have to work together for things to go smoothly. Out of that also comes Respect. And then Enjoyment. You have to enjoy what you are doing or else why do it?”
