From France to Singapore: the career path of Maurizio Agnino, Technical Support Team Leader

Maurizio Agnino joined the Cloud Communications division of NTT in 2014 as an Engineer for BlueSky Support. After a few role changes, he is now the Technical Support Team Leader for the whole APAC region. Nowadays, Maurizio doesn’t only manage BlueSky, but many other IS applications. His main task is to support users and provide them with solutions or workarounds whenever there is an issue.

In his seven years with us, Maurizio had the time to explore several facets of the company. He’s changed roles several times, moved from France to Singapore, and won several awards, including the Go the Extra Mile. We caught up with Maurizio to learn more about his career path here.

Q. What does it take to be successful in your role?

I think curiosity and patience are key elements for support roles. First curiosity, because understanding why something is not working is sometimes more important than actually fixing the issue. Patience, because people coming to support are experiencing an issue. We must not forget that they are impacted in their work routine and probably facing unhappy customers on their end.

Q. In your video, you talk about how you were able to move from France to Singapore thanks to the company program. How did it go?

In my previous roles, I already had a lot of contacts with APAC IS and people from the Singapore office. I had a few exchanges with the APAC IS Director about my intention to change to a new location. When a position opened in IS, I simply applied and had an interview with the local HR. During the whole process, HR was supportive. They helped me a lot in understanding the steps to be taken and the paperwork I had to do. Thanks to them, everything went smoothly. The whole experience has been quite amazing! Despite the difficult period we are living in, and even if ‘physical contacts’ with my colleagues have been limited, I’m glad I could move to this country and experience a new culture.

Q. What is the most memorable thing that has happened to you since joining the company?

It was in 2015, when I won the annual award for our core value “Working Together” with my colleague Raphaël Chartier. We had the chance to join the other core value winners in London. It was a fantastic experience and an enjoyable moment.

Q. What do our Values “Speed, Execute & Together” mean for you?

These values are very strong. I feel they are very important especially when working in support.

Q. What’s one thing not many people know about you?

I’ve been an actor for a short while! I even played some roles in the theatre when I was still living in Italy.

Q. When did you know you wanted to work in IS?

I’ve always admired computers. As a kid, I didn’t know for sure what job I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted it to be related to computers. I didn’t aim specifically to work in IS, but I’m very happy I did!
