Brittany Herrera and her customer-oriented career path

Brittany Herrera describes herself on her LinkedIn page as a self-motivated, competitive, and customer-oriented individual with a passion for success and a “can-do” attitude. We can certainly detect these personality traits in her unique career path.   

She qualified as a nurse in just two years while in Kuala Lumpur and dedicated several years to nursing before realizing it wasn’t the right career path for her. Making a complete change she began to work in customer-oriented positions, before joining our business five years ago.

In these five years, she has had five different roles, always taking new opportunities to evolve, and is now a Business Development Manager (BDM).

We asked her to tell us more about her customer-focused career path and her latest role.

Q. You are currently a Business Development Manager: can you describe your day-to-day work?

My role typically consists of contacting potential clients to establish rapport, and arrange meetings, and also research organizations and individuals to find new opportunities. I have to increase the value of current customers whilst also attracting new ones. The growth and adoption of next-generation solutions to enhance ROI is one of my priorities.

Q. Since the recording of the video here, you have evolved from Customer Success Manager to BDM. Can you tell us more about this latest change?

In December, it was brought to my attention that our executive team had met to discuss the evolution of our Customer Success Manager team. I was approached with the opportunity to move into the Business Development role and to continue excelling and advancing with new opportunities and next-generation solutions. It couldn’t pass it up!

Q. What is the most pleasant or exciting part of your new position?

The overall team environment. The current BDMs are a great group of individuals and come with a vast amount of knowledge on next-generation solutions.

Q. Before joining the Cloud Communications division of NTT Ltd. you were an event coordinator, and then an associate banker. It’s quite an impressive leap to now being a business development manager – do you have something that drives you?

Customers. I pride myself in maintaining that overall relationship between a company, customer and myself. This bond is so important in maintaining that B2B relationship. Each job I’ve had has allowed me to build my skillset and just be an overall ‘people’ person. I look forward to my continued growth in the BDM role.

Q. And of course congratulations are in order! In 2019 you were awarded Customer Success Manager of the year! Why do you think you were selected for this?

Hard work and dedication to the role. I’ve always prided myself in being the best I can be in any situation. I owe that one to my mother!
