Last month, the Arkadin team attended UC EXPO 2019, Europe’s biggest unified communication and collaboration event. We look forward to attending each year for the opportunity to preview and discuss the latest technology within cloud communications, whilst meeting some of the industry’s leading experts.
The day was filled with, seminars, panel discussions and exciting announcements – not least our own, with the announcement of our own Cisco Webex Calling offering and keynote presentations from some of our own Executives. We’ve rounded up some our highlights and key takeaways from the day.
Adoption of Microsoft Teams is on the rise
One thing that was apparent from other organizations and attendees at UC EXPO was the growth in different sized business adopting Microsoft Teams. As more businesses have adopted O365 and its full suite of cloud-based services, Microsoft Teams has seen a sharp uptake in organizations and has said it is the fastest growing app in Microsoft’s history.
However, guidance and governance around the platform appeared to be at the forefront of most attendees’ minds, with sessions full to the brim. Despite updates to the platform that help to bar the cross communication of sensitive information outside of compliant departments, a key takeaway from the day highlighted the demand for more information around successful implementation and governance.
One of the biggest events of the day for the Arkadin team was undoubtedly our session on Microsoft Teams deployment and the live demonstrations with Office365. The demand for these sessions had been unprecedented, with queues of attendees keen for advice and best practice around implementing Teams within businesses. Our speakers highlighted the importance of viewing the adoption of new technologies with a change management mindset to bring employees fully on board with change and have active roles within implementation.
Businesses must have UC-ready networks in place
Another key theme of this year’s UC EXPO covered networking and highlighted the need for organizations to upgrade their infrastructure to be able to cope with the demands of modern unified communications. Our Head of Solution Consultants, in collaboration with the Sales Director of our holding company, NTT, presented the key considerations on the journey to getting networks UCaaS ready.
As business decision makers are increasingly making the move to accommodate unified communications, it is becoming apparent that a proportion of organizations simply don’t have the reliable networks in place to accommodate technology such as video conferencing and IT leaders are looking for solutions that are scalable and minimally disruptive. Key elements within our team’s presentation revolved around the theme of integration and user experience – getting the network right in order to deliver the full potential of your Cloud strategy.
Arguably some of the biggest announcements of UC EXPO 2019 came under the Webex brand, as Cisco announced a wider rollout of their Webex Calling offering across Europe, including the UK. Plus, we made our own announcement of a Cisco Webex Calling service, providing global PSTN telephony services via Cisco’s Broadcloud PBX technology, packaged under the market leading Webex brand with our exceptional levels of customer care and support.
Unified Communication partners will be in demand
With the announcement of Cisco’s Webex Calling offering throughout Europe and our own Cisco Webex Calling announcement, the emergence of new UC technology is paving the way for the future of Unified Communications. Amongst a flurry of new technology, however, is the realization for many IT leaders that a significant number of organizations are not equipped to implement and oversee these applications to their full potential. We’re expecting to see an increase in businesses looking to partner with providers for technological implementations and rollouts within the workplace.
Speaking on our behalf, our valued customer, CRU, detailed its journey to unified communications with UC Connect and shared the steps taken from start up through to implementation and into review, with the end results of improved collaboration and user experience, a leveraged network and overall reduced costs.
Collaboration is key
At Arkadin, we pride ourselves on being a people company. We found UC EXPO’s collaboration theme an enabler for networking and relationship building with partners and like-minded professionals. Not to mention that it provided us with a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship with our existing clients.
