Arkadin is now operating as the Cloud Communications division of NTT Ltd. Together we do great things

Meet our April ‘Go the Extra Mile’ winners, Shoeb Zakiuddin and Brandon Filipello, IT Engineers

Shoeb Zakiuddin and Brandon Filipello are both IT Engineers for our Americas region, based in the Schaumburg office in Illinois. They have been working, respectively, eight and five years at the Cloud Communications division of NTT and have been providing essential support for their colleagues ever since.

Shoeb and Brandon cover a wide range of issues in IT: end-user troubleshooting, security, and the management and configuration of servers and devices. They both love their job, and you can definitively feel it in their colleagues’ feedback.

‘Shoeb and Brandon continue to exceed expectations with all they do. I feel very fortunate to have partners in this company like them. They innovate, are organized, are great to work with and have an attention to detail that is appreciated by everyone they help.’

We caught up with Shoeb and Brandon to know more about them and their teamwork.

Q. According to your colleagues, you always complete requests quickly and accurately. How do you manage to solve issues so well every time?

Shoeb: Knowledge and experience are the two most crucial elements that help me accomplish my goals and tasks efficiently. I strive for challenges so it motivates me to do my job the best I can to make sure our users are happy. If technology isn’t working properly for the users, it affects their job. We need to ensure everything is done promptly!

Brandon: I have ADHD/OCD which has its positives and negatives. One of the positives is the ‘need’ to get things done so no projects are hanging over my head. When issues go unsolved it stresses me out so I like to resolve them as quickly as possible!

Q. What do you think is the most important function of the IT Engineer? And the biggest challenge?

Shoeb: Timing is very important. It’s also essential to build a relationship with the users. They need to know that when there is an issue, we can be relied on to get the job done without impacting their business. Sometimes, the only option we have is to wait because we may have to allow a certain allocation of time to let the processes complete. But we make sure we have workarounds for the users if possible.

Brandon: Speed, accuracy, and politeness. Users sometimes have issues that impact their job, which can stress them out. We must remain calm and courteous and try to get it resolved as quickly as possible.

Q. You both excel in your work. What’s your biggest strength and what makes you such a great team?

Shoeb: Working together is our biggest strength. We both have excellent diverse backgrounds and maintain a similar mindset at work which helps us work together efficiently. Teamwork is key in our role!

Brandon: Shoeb and I have a good balance. Shoeb is a brilliant troubleshooter and can handle some of the most complex issues. While I work extremely fast and usually on multiple issues at the same time. I think that makes us a heck of a good pair. We have also become friends and talk to each other a lot!

Q. You’ve both been working with the Cloud Communications division of NTT for a few years now. What do you like most about working here?

Shoeb: The thing I like most here is the people. I believe it is very important to work at a place where people are treated equally with respect.

Brandon: The people. I have been fortunate to work with some awesome and supportive people.
